APPLE FLOAT
- ---The original version----
- 1 can evaporated whole milk, well-chilled
- 1/4 C lemon juice
- 1/2 C sugar
- 2 16-oz jars of applesauce, well-chilled
- 2 packages of graham crackers, crushed in a zip-lock bag
- Whip milk until soft peaks form.
- Add lemon juice and sugar.
- Continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in the applesauce.
- Put half of the graham cracker crumbs in the bottom of a 13" x 9" pan.
- Spread half of applesauce mixture over the crumbs.
- Repeat.
- ---An easier version----
- 8 oz. Cool Whip, defrosted
- 16 oz jar of applesauce
- 1 1/2 C graham cracker crumbs (about one package from box)
- Fold applesauce into Cool Whip.
- Put half of the graham cracker crumbs in the bottom of a smaller dish.
- Spread half of applesauce mixture over the crumbs.
- Repeat.
(This recipe was my mother-in-law's, by way of my sister-in-law. It's a favorite of my husband's, and with good reason. It's like eating sweet, fruit-filled air. We've tried both versions, and prefer the original.)
